Frequently Asked Questions

What is neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a gentle, non-invasive way to help your brain notice and adjust patterns that might be

contributing to stress, migraines, mood swings, or cognitive challenges. Think of it like a mirror for your

brain — showing your brain when it’s out of balance so it can make its own natural adjustments.

2

What happens during a session?

You’ll sit or relax comfortably while small sensors on your scalp and ears monitor brain activity. Real-time

audio feedback helps your brain recognize patterns and adjust naturally. There’s no effort, no stimulation

and no conscious control needed — most people find sessions quite relaxing and notice improvements gradually with a series of sessions.

3

Is Neurofeedback Safe?

Yes. Neurofeedback is completely non-invasive and passive. It’s widely used and generally well-tolerated across ages and symptoms.

Your brain is doing the work, and we simply provide gentle feedback to support its natural regulation.

The FDA has deemed it a general wellness device and safe for users of all ages.

4

How is Neurofeedback Connected to Oral Health?

The jaw and face are closely linked to the nervous system. Stress, pain, and neurological dysregulation can contribute to jaw tension, headaches, migraines, and teeth grinding. Neurofeedback supports the

brain’s ability to self-regulate, which may help calm the nervous system and complement holistic dental care.

WellNEST is located within a holistic dental clinic because we share a whole-body view of health.

While dental care addresses structural and oral health needs, neurofeedback supports nervous system regulation — which complements healing, comfort, and resilience throughout the body.

5

What Kinds of Concerns Does Neurofeedback Support?

At WellNEST, we commonly support adults experiencing:

  • Concussion or post-concussion symptoms

  • Chronic migraines or headaches

  • Mood instability or emotional regulation challenges

  • Cognitive changes or brain fog

It may also support sleep, stress, anxiety, and overall brain wellness. Every brain is unique, so results can

vary.

6

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Everyone responds differently. Some people notice subtle changes within just a few sessions, while

lasting improvements usually require a minimum of 20 sessions. During a free consultation call, we can discuss what might work best for your goals.

7

Can I Continue Other Treatments or Medications?

Neurofeedback is designed to complement other care. Always consult your healthcare provider before making changes to medications or therapies, but in most cases, neurofeedback can safely fit alongside your current routine.

8

Is Neurofeedback Appropriate for Older Adults or Those Experiencing Cognitive Changes?

Yes. Neurofeedback can be supportive for older adults or anyone experiencing cognitive changes, including memory or focus challenges. While it isn’t a cure, it can help the brain regulate more efficiently and promote comfort and resilience.

9

Can neurofeedback help with concussions or migraines?

Many clients seek neurofeedback for exactly these concerns. It may help the brain regulate more efficiently and support recovery. While it’s not a medical treatment or cure, it’s often a useful complement to other care.

10

What kind of neurofeedback does WellNEST provide?

WellNEST provides NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback®, a non-invasive form of neurofeedback that is not protocol-driven and does not require a brain scan or diagnosis. This approach does not push, constrain, or reward the brain.

Instead of training the brain toward a specific target, NeurOptimal® offers real-time feedback about moment-to-moment brain activity. The brain uses this information to self-adjust, strengthening its natural ability to process information, adapt, and respond appropriately in real life.

11

How is NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback® different from other neurofeedback approaches?

Most neurofeedback systems take a linear approach - using protocols, brain maps, or diagnosis to analyze snapshots of brain activity and then train the brain toward predefined goals.

NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback® is the only neurofeedback available that takes a non-linear dynamic approach - meaning it provides realtime feedback to the brain (microsecond by microsecond) without protocols, brain maps or diagnosis.  The brain is the expert, naturally moving away from disfunction toward comfort and resilience.

NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback® is a gentle, flexible option that supports the brain’s innate ability to self-regulate — rather than trying to control or “fix” it.

12

Is NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback® a Medical Treatment?

No — NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback® does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. It supports your brain’s natural ability to self-regulate and works best alongside your existing medical or therapeutic care.

13

Do I Need A Brain Map or qEEG?

Not for NeurOptimal Dynamical Neurofeedback®. Some neurofeedback approaches use brain mapping, and then push and constrain the brain to certain norms. Dynamical Neurofeedback® is set apart in that it uses realtime feedback rather than a snapshot of brain performance.  It does not push, constrain or reward the brain but rather allows the brain to adjust as it naturally sees fit.
